What is BPS/NET?

What is the Biopsychosocial (BPS) model?
What is Neuro Emotional Technique (NET)?

In 1977, George Engel, a professor of psychiatry and medicine, wrote an article for Science (“The Need for a New Medical Model: A Challenge for Biomedicine”) that proposed that the then current way of looking at disease was grossly inadequate. He fully repudiated the prevailing paradigm (the biomedical model), because it contained “the notion of the body as a machine, of the disease as the consequence of the breakdown of the machine, and of the doctor’s task as repair of the machine”.

He further observed that humans are affected “by cultural, social, and psychological considerations”.

Once he posited this simple common sense biopsychosocial (BPS) model, it was suddenly self-evident for the leading thinkers in all the healing arts. Yet old ways die hard and there is still much unnecessary suffering because many healing art institutions and individuals still cling to a mechanistic “body as machine” concept and routinely discard environmental factors (emotions, social factors, toxins, etc.) not in the core of their antiquated specialized training.

In this age of medical overspecialization the leadership of the ONE Research Foundation seeks to scientifically validate the common sense BPS model through cutting edge methodologies, which are non-pharmaceutical, non-toxic, efficient and of course, effective.

To date, the most promising of the BPS methodologies in the “natural” healing arts has been Neuro Emotional Technique (NET). It has filled a number of important criteria: biopsychosocial plausibility; having no untoward side effects; widespread reporting of clinical efficacy from healthcare practitioners around the world and being drug free.

Because of the excellent philosophical underpinnings of the BPS and the relatively sophisticated approach of NET, our research has indeed validated that there can be a drugless, cost-effective approach to many kinds of disorders. In the current health care crisis this approach is exactly what the world needs now.
