| Report from the Research Committee
July 2007
(Drs Bablis, Walker & Pollard)
Introduction
Hello Everyone, the time has come again to provide you with a glimpse of what ONERF has been
achieving in regards to its research efforts. This report summarizes the discussions held by
the Research Committee in Sydney in Early July. In addition to the clarification of our current
activities, we also formulated plans for new activities to move NET, ONERF and the collective
research effort forward into the future. We are very excited at the exposure the research is
beginning to generate in various places around the globe.

In addition to the above, another paper documenting the level of depression in patients
presenting to an NET practitioner will shortly be submitted. It measured the degree of depression using
the DRAM scale and it shows that significant levels of depression are normally seen in the NET practice and
that the levels are improved with the NET (at the 3 month follow up). Both findings (the degree of depression
and the success of the treatment) are significant firsts for NET.
Recent Poster Presentations
We have poster presentations accepted of our ADHD and chronic LBP research studies. These posters
have been accepted at the: World Federation of Chiropractic Biennial conference and The 6th Biennial World
Conference on LBP (non chiropractic conference).
Conclusion
There are significant moves around the world of chiropractic to implement a biopsychosocial model
of health care. Significant research coming from specialists in all disciplines is cementing the
view that psychosocial approaches to pain management and general healthcare is more significant
than simplistic mechanistic approaches. This is particularly true of chronic syndromes.
Such research is increasingly being viewed as significant by the chiropractic associations
around the world. This is true to the extent that the World Federation of Chiropractic has
adopted the BPS model as the preferred model of chiropractic profession. With the emerging
research support that NET is beginning to amass, it would appear that the ability of NET to
address all the components in the model places it in the pre-eminent position to lead the
profession into the new age of biopsychosocial healthcare. The future looks very bright for
the NET practitioner.
