| Report from the Research Committee
November 2006
(Drs Bablis, Walker & Pollard)
Introduction
The last few months have seen the commencement of several of the larger research projects,
the continued writing of research, the publication of papers, and our presence at several
conferences.
Research Projects
We have commenced advertisement and recruitment for 3 of the RCT’s now.
Dr. Peter Bablis started the recruitment 6 months ago for the pilot program of the low back
pain trial. Dr Fay Karpousis has commenced recruitment for the ADHD study and Dr Ben Brown
has commenced recruitment for the hypothyroidism study.
Completed Studies
I am happy to report that we have finally received the statistics back from
the statistician for the trigger point paper.
We are currently preparing the statistical review of the practice demographic paper.
This paper will describe briefly the characteristics of approximately 750 consecutive patients presenting to
Dr. Bablis’ clinic. The data collection for this study was huge and is now at the analysis stage. It will enable
us to present a snapshot of the type of patient that presents to an NET practitioner.
We have also had the paper: “The Biopsychosocial Model and its relevance to
Chiropractic” published in the most recent edition of Chiropractic Journal of Australia.
In addition, the paper: “The organization of the stress response, and its
relevance to chiropractors: a commentary”, has been accepted in the journal, Journal of
Chiropractic and Osteopathy (medline indexed). It should go online in the next week or two.
The paper: A mind-body treatment for hypothyroid dysfunction: a report of two
cases, which was submitted to Journal of Clinical Chiropractic is still in review.
Things are looking good and will only get better.
Best Regards,
Dr Henry Pollard DC, PhD
