| History of the O.N.E.
Research Foundation
Scott Walker, D.C. graduated from Palmer College
of Chiropractic in 1965. Although a successful doctor by most
standards, he was constantly frustrated by some patients getting
excellent results and others with similar complaints having
little or no results. The question arose for Dr. Walker as
it had for so many doctors before him, "Why do I sometimes
get such miraculous results, and other times seem to fail?"
And like many doctors before him, he too came to realize that
the emotional factor was very significant.
Born of his frustration, eventually Dr. Walker
developed a procedure (later to be called Neuro Emotional
Technique-NET) which had surprising, welcome and most of all,
unprecedented results. Using the emotional-meridian correlations
of the East, Goodheart's Applied Kinesiology principles, and
chiropractic spinal adjusting, Walker was elated to see that
by merely having the patient hold specific traumatic events
in their memory while having specific spinal adjustments,
results increased dramatically. He was then encouraged by
fellow local practitioners who he had treated with this technique.
These fellow doctors asked him to present a
"private seminar" so they could gain a better understanding
of the NET and use it in their practices.
The first seminar was held on May 7, 1988. Because
of the attending doctors' unexpected positive feedback on
the recoveries of their previously chronic patients, Dr. Walker
consented to schedule additional seminars. This led to a new
phase of his career as he began teaching the technique to
a wider professional audience. An additional method of correction
(apart from spinal adjusting), utilizing a simple finger contact
of acupoints, discovered by Walker in 1987, allowed for NET's
usage in healing disciplines outside of chiropractic. Today,
with his wife Deborah Walker, DC, he has taught NET internationally
to over 10,000 doctors, and to date, there are approximately
4,000 formal NET seminar graduates and over 300 Certified
NET Practitioners.
The Evolution of The ONE Research Foundation
Graduate doctors were very enthusiastic in their
desire to scientifically validate and spread the technique.
To scientifically validate means to demonstrate that a technique
or process is totally reproducible. Totally reproducible is
defined as a situation in which anyone can replicate the findings
and get the same results.
In 1993, in a spontaneous gesture at an NET
seminar, attendees raised over $4,000 to initiate the legal
framework for The ONE Foundation dedicated to advancing world
health through educating the healthcare community and the
public in the utilization and efficacy of Neuro Emotional
Technique.
With the legal work completed, the Foundation submitted an
application to become a California Non-Profit Public Benefit
Corporation, within the meaning of Sect. 501(c)3 of the Internal
Revenue Code, on May of 1993. The resolution to install elected
board members and officers took place in August of 1994.
On June 25, 2002, the existing Board of Directors approved
a change in the organizations name from the ONE Foundation(
Our Net Effect Foundation) to the ONE Research Foundation(ONERF).
The name change symbolized a renewed vigor in the focus of
the organization. The focus was to deepen and strengthen research
efforts and to become more effective in the attainment of
this goal. To that end, the Board has grown to include an
Education Committee Chair, A Research Committee Chair and
the Board has hired a Research Director.
Since the inception of the Foundation, practitioners
and patients alike have given generously of their time, talents
and money. Hundreds of thousands of dollars have been raised
to fund NET research. To date the ONERF has had four studies
published with many more on the way. Two were done by Kristopher
B. Peterson D.C. on the effects of NET relative to phobias
and cholesterol levels and one was done by Daniel Monti, M.D.
and John Sinnott, D.C. on the validation of muscle testing.
The most recent is Hypothyroidism: A New Model for Conservative
Management in 2 Cases- Peter Bablis B.Sc., Grad. D. C., Grad.
Dip. Sports Sc. and Henry Pollard B.Sc., Grad. Dip. Chiro.,
Grad. Dip. App. Sc., M. Sports Sc., Ph.D. , Chiropractic Journal
of Australia 2004;34:11-18.
The ONERF is at the cutting edge of Mind-Body
medicine. Over the next few years we plan to expand our research
efforts to bring NET into the medical and public eye as well
as into the curriculum of professional schools around the
globe. With the support of our growing NET community the realization
of our goals seems inevitable.
